In last week's episode, we discussed focusing on the strength of our team members, rather than their weaknesses. But what if you are growing your team? What if you have a spot to fill in your organization? Before you can build your A-Team you need to know what it is that you're looking for.
So what is an "A" player? An "A" player is an employee who creates superior results over and above what the majority of people in a similar position hold.
3 steps to help you build your "A" player profile for your organization:
1. Get Clear
What are the skills and attributes that you're looking for that you feel would actually attribute to an "A" player profile?
2. Define Knockout Factors
What skills and attributes are the ones that are absolutely non-negotiable? If the candidate does not have them, then they are knocked out of contention for the position.
3. Pool Large Enough
Hiring is a numbers game. You have to interview a large number of qualified potential "A" player candidates to be able to find the right one.
In summary, don't try to solve a recruiting problem with a coaching solution.

I look forward to being with you again next Tuesday where we'll have another topic about helping you grow your business, grow your leadership, and grow and develop your team.
